“A good snapshot keeps a moment from running away.”
– Eudora Welty
As a musician with a large and eclectic music taste I spend a lot of time at gigs and festivals, at venues of all shapes and sizes. While often losing myself in the music, the photographer in me is always there in the background (especially if I’m right at the front) usually wishing I had one of my pro cameras with me! It’s often said that the best camera is the one you have with you and back in the day, before the proliferation of mobile phones with decent cameras, that for me meant my trusty Sony RX100 iii which easily fitted into a pocket. Since 2016, I’ve increasingly relied on the latest generation of Google Pixel as my concert camera of choice. One thing that has remained constant however, is a conscious decision as a punter to always limiting myself to taking a select couple of shots and then putting the camera away. After all, it’s the music I’m here for – a great snapshot is just a bonus that reminds me of what a great time I had.
